i have a seven week old boy kitten he will use the litter box sometimes but not others i dnt know wat to do?
he is a seven week old boy kitten there are no other pets in the house just him. we got him out of the paper frm a lady this lady had so many cats and kittens and her house stunk of cat pee and everything. we got him about two weeks ago the first week i had no problems with him but i found some fleas on him i think we treated them. then he had a cold i took him to the vet and they gave him medicine, once he was on the medicine he would pee and pop on the couch and my bed on the rugs anywhere, but he only did it at night and we were always home and other times he would use his liter box. i stopped giving him themedicine because i thought that was making him do it but he was still doing it and it is only when we are here and its usually always in front of us, unless it is in our bed then we are asleep can anyone help us out and let me know what i should do so we dont have to get rid of him adn we can keep him i would appreciate it thanks

- Picky feline .. keep box clean at all times if possible .. where lil angels goes to poo out side box .. lay down white ground pepper . will make them leave that area .
- I really think it's just his age. Also, him being sick could have had something to do with it. If the home he came from was really smelly it may just take him a little time to realize that he is supposed to go in the box, but I really think he will as most cats train themselves. Is he well now? I hope so. It sound like the poor baby didn't have a very good start in life until you gave him a home. I'm sure he'll be fine for you and give you much love. Good Luck
- 1st off, poor wee kitty was far too young to be taken from his mom. He was about 5 wks. old when you got him, right? He may not be fully litter trained, nor weaned either. Keep kitty confined in a small room (like laundryroom, bathrm.) with a LOW-sided litter pan on one end and food/water dishes at other with bedding. Or even in a large dog kennel with the same set-up. Initially show him where the box is and motion his front paws/egs mimicking going to potty and praising him. He should then only be using the litter box, if no other suitable place to potty is in the confined room. Good luck.
- since he is a kitten, he is still learning. He probably gets anxious when you are gone, and cats/dogs will do that (mess)because of it. While he adjusts to everything new, and since you want to keep him, try putting him in a bathroom overnight and while you're out, that way if he does make a mess, its easier clean up. He will get used to being alone at the same time. Of course keep a litter box in there with him, clean it often, but don't use strong perfumed powder, he might not like it. He should grow out of it especially once he is fixed and realizes this is his new home, just be patient with the little guy, he's still a baby.
- He was too young to leave his mother in the first place(bless you for taking him) But his mother had nowhere to teach him anyway. Tomorrow see if you have a friend with a cat. Get a baggie and put some of her poo-poo in the babys cat box and bury it. Usually the baby will get the hint. If not bring kitten to your friends house and the older( FEMALE) cat will train him. good luck lol you may have a ferral cat on your hands and if you do....well like I said ,good luck ;)
- Always have clean kitty litter for him. Maybe feed him on the bed and couch but put a baby blanket down first. After he eats, put him in the litter tray (with clean litter) and move his front paws in the litter as if he was using it. If you use the clay based litter, remove all the litter after use and replace it with fresh litter. If you use the white crystal type, remove all poo and smoothe it over so white crystals are on top. There could be a tom cat outside at night- that would cause him to do that. Ring your vet for advice. He could have a urinary tract infection so get him back to vet. Also, place a soft cuddly toy with him so he won't miss his Mum. You'll have to be patient while you train him to use his litter tray. At night, put him in the bathroom with a clean bed and his soft toy- easier to clean up messes
