My flea bitten varmint:[?

I have a Pomeranian and he's about 8 years old. He has a real bad allergic reaction to fleas. We've tried the cone, the liquid medicine, flea dip, the pills, we've even bombed our house a few times with bug killer. Nothing seems to work. And he is starting to really chew him self up. He has no hair on his rear end and his skin is always bright, bright red. I don't know if there are any vets who use Yahoo! Answers, but if you had the same problem with your pet(s) and you have resolved it, please let me know. Thanks.

  1. go to a vet
  2. FrontLine and Advantage (liquid placed on the skin) work wonderfully for fleas and ticks. It may be that your dog has an allergy to something other than fleas (although you should certainly get rid of those). We once had a Saint Bernard who was allergic to grass, and her stomach was always raw red because she lay down in the grass. You really must see a vet about this because it sounds as if your dog is really suffering.
  3. I had a shitzu w/ the same prob. and we shaved his hair really short, after every treatment didn't work. He looked silly, but it seemed to be a last resort that worked.
  4. So sorry, I'm no flee expert! Thanks 4 all your help earlier, but yahoo has weirdly allowed me back on yahoomail again. Good, but not so good about your pet. Obviously you've considered that it may not be flees that drives him mad, but something else in the home....? xx
