my 12 week old chihuahua has a fever and is throwing up??
HELP!! my 12 week and 3 day old chihuahua has vomited once today, twice yesterday and once the day before that.. it looked like her treats wer in her vomit, so i stopped giving her the treats.. today it looked like her wet food was in her vomit, so i stopped that too and have just been giving her crunchies.. anyway, her last vomit was about 6 hours ago and she's not active lethargic or anything like that, but her little head is very warm.. hot even.. we do have a night clinic open but they are going to charge me $50 to even look at her plus whatever medicine she needs or whatever.. if i wait until tomorrow, i can take her to the local pet hospital that's right by my house and have her checked out for $35 and the vet there is very nice and will help out your animal for very cheap if he knows you can't afford it, which i really can't afford a super lot of money right now!! should i wait until the morning to take her in?? or should i take her in now?? how serious is the little fever?? oops, i meant she's not acting lethargic.. she's already had her first shots and is eating and drinking fine.. she is active and playful too.. that's why i am shocked that she's been throwing up because she seems to be okay!! chill out bro, i can afford the 50 bucks.. i CAN pay for more than that if i want, i just don't really want to if i don't have to!!!! duhhh who does?? i have no problem taking her to the vet if need be.. i am up on all of her shots and she is probably treated better than you are by your own family!!

- Hmm....our chihuahua had the same problem....it turns out she had a parasite called coccidia.....I would take her into the vet as soon as possible, definitely. Also, she may have gotten into something she shouldn't be allowd to have. Good luck!
- sounds like she has parvo maybe. dont let any other animals around till you know for sure
- GET AN EYE DROPER AND FORCE WATER ALL NIGHT THEN TAKE HIM IN THE MORN.... GOOD LUCK
- Dogs naturally have a higher body temperature than people. To find out if she really has a fever, you need to take her temperature (in her butt). Keep the puppy hydrated and bring her in first thing in the morning. I know the difference between $50 and $35 can seem like a lot, but if you have any reason to worry yourself half to death, that $15 will be worth it. You can talk to the folks at the night clinic - they might be able to work with you on a deal. Good luck!
- Okay, how did you take her temp.....touching her head won't work. Do you have a rectal thermometer? What is the temp.....? The biggest thing if she is vomiting, keep fluids in her. See if she will eat a bit of steamed rice/chicken broth. I know you might not have this....but always keep it on hand. The chicken broth is soothing and has electrolites in it to help. The rice will usually be settling to her tummy. Water is not enough. Also, with a small breed like this you need what is called Nutra Cal. It comes in a tube and it is a helpful tool when dogs are not feeling well. It is a boost to their system. One other thing....with this breed they have a tendancy to get a drop in blood sugar...talk to the vet about this. The nutra cal with also help with this, or do you have caro syrup? Give a couple of drops of this. This sounds like a drop of blood sugar to me. Small breeds of dogs get this often and you half to watch for it or you can lose them. Good luck.
- if you cant afford it them you should of bought the damn dog. what if it was your kid? would you wait until the next day? hell no! thats the responsibility of owning a pet. to care for it. not just feed it and walk it. take it in to get checked out now
- You really do need to do something. Chihuahuas can die quickly from vomiting (hypoglycemia). Was she vaccinated to prevent parvo? It will kill a dog within 2or 3 days. Scours are more easily treated with just a round of antibiotics.
