How much revolution flea medicine for dogs do I put on my cats? My vet and other pet sources said it is ok to put the dog size revolution on my many cats and 1 dog, that I just need to put the right amount on each. Does anyone know about how many cc's per 5lbs of cat (and dog)? I have a 1cc dropper my vet gave me, but I'm not sure how much each should get. If it helps I was told to give 6ml per 1 kg (2.2lbs), but I don't know how to calculate that to cc's. Thanks I didn't mean to upset so many of you, although I thought I would get some concerns. I did my research, I even called Pfizer, it's really ok so long as I don't overdose them and even so I just need to watch for any reactions like one would normally do when giving medication. I've been using dog advantage on my cats for years and they're all still here. So I appreciate the concerns and the advice, but I'm trusting my research and my vet and I'm going to try it. I just need to know the amounts. But I don't think mg & cc's are the same, that would be way too much. Worse comes to worse I will empy out a pack, break down the cc's and go from there. Ok gang I think I got it. Thank you so much to those who actually tried to help answer my question rather than lecture me and my vet's decision. The calculators helped. Here's what I came up with (and it should have been 6 mG not mL per kg): For a 11lb kitty (5kg) he would get about .03cc of Revolution, my 30lb dog (14.1kg) would get about .08cc. I'm choosing Revolution because my cats have had problems with ear mites & fleas and my dog has had ticks and fleas and the Revolution covers all these plus heartworm. Thanks again everyone. Oops, I meant .3cc & .8cc.
Have you ever used OTC flea medicine for cats in the past? I've reading on this site all the adverse reactions from flea medication for pets: http://www.elversonpuzzle.com/biospotlettersv7.html and ALL flea medicine has adverse reactions even Frontline and Revolution. Other things I've noted is that most adverse reactions happen to dogs by 2 or 3 to 1. Now I've just bought my kitten Zodiac Flea and Tick medicine for cats and Kittens but after reading everything, I felt bad for trying to be cheap and my brain was conjuring all these bad images even though the kitten seem ok and washed it off. Now I'm pissed that I let these stories get to me. So here's the question, we all know generally that Frontline, Revolution and most meds you get from Vets work fine. I've used Frontline myself and aside from it wearing off early, didn't seem to have much adverse affect on my cat. But these OTC's can't ALL be that bad, can they. Otherwise, with the thousands if not millions they sell, they would have an epidemic upon release to the public. Now I don't want to risk my kittens lives either but if a OTC does work, I think we should support it and not just ASSUME all OTC's are fatal for pets. Otherwise Frontline and Revolution will be the only products on the market. It's the OTC's that keep the pet medicine market low. Anyways, enough of my rant. Here's the Question: Have you ever used an OTC flea medication before and what happen, good or bad. Let's see the percentage at least among this group who've had good or bad reaction. Please only list your own pet, use and experience and not what you have heard. Thank you. Important, please list what brand as well. I think we can all agree that Hartz is horrible for pets. That I won't dispute. I've never used it myself but there are enough reports on Hartz to convince me not to experiment with it.
What is the safest flea killer medicine for cats? I read that insect growth regulators (IGR's) are safer to use, but elsewhere I read that Bio Spot, which contains and IGR (nylar) has caused injurious even fatal results in pets. I'm thinking of using revolution or program and capstar. Also read about precor and sentinel. It's all confusing. p.S. I wanted to ask people's opinions and experiences, in addition I will consult with a vet of course (I know they usually prescribe Revolution).
flea medicine? I just noticed that my cats got fleas. What flea medicine is the best? In the pet store they suggested advanced once a month, but it's not cheap, so I wanna make sure it works! Did anyone try it? Or is there a better one? I don't mind spending a lot of money on it, as long as it works! Thanx for help
Flea medicine for ferret? My vet is on vacation, and I was wondering if there is a good over-the-counter flea medicine for ferrets. I know some flea medicines, even from the vet, are harmful to ferrets, so I really need to know for sure. I don't want to pet something on him thats going to hurt him.
Cheap website for pet medicines? I am trying to reorder flea medicine and heart worm preventative for my dog. I usually buy it from the vet but my mom told me that there are some websites that are cheaper and send it to your house. I know one is 1800PetMeds. Do you know of any others? Can they be trusted?
Has anyone ever heard of 1800petmeds or other reputable online pet med sites selling counterfit medicine? Today I tried a new vet since moving back to NYC and they immediately started asking me what type of food am I feeling my dog and if she is on flea and tick preventative, To which i answered royal canin and yes she is on preventative meds. Then she was like do you get it from your vet or online. I said I get it online with a prescription. So she starts telling me that 1800ped meds sells counterfit drugs and they don't guarantee their products and they(meaning the vet clinic) stand behind all the medicine they sell and if my dog had any reaction they would treat her for free, blah blah blah. I mean i've been using heartguard from my online store since she was a puppy and she's never had a reaction. I was really turned off by them and don't think I will use them again. I think they are just trying to boost their sales and are not really concerned with their patients or owners. But please let me know if I'm wrong. Can I use Advantage for dogs on my cats too? What is the best, Frontline, Advantage or K9 Advantage. I have 1 dog (chihuahua) and 2 cats. Could i just get some flea medicine for dogs and still use them on my cats? And to save a little bit more money, could i get flea meds for dogs 21-55lbs and divide it up for my 3 pets?
Do you have pet Insurance? Does anyone know of good pet insurance that covers all vaccines, heartworm and flea medicine for not a lot of money? I currently have pet isurance for my little girl but it only provides for 250.00 wellness coverage like flea medicine and so one a year.
My flea bitten varmint:[? I have a Pomeranian and he's about 8 years old. He has a real bad allergic reaction to fleas. We've tried the cone, the liquid medicine, flea dip, the pills, we've even bombed our house a few times with bug killer. Nothing seems to work. And he is starting to really chew him self up. He has no hair on his rear end and his skin is always bright, bright red. I don't know if there are any vets who use Yahoo! Answers, but if you had the same problem with your pet(s) and you have resolved it, please let me know. Thanks.
We have no pets but our kids have flea bites? Hi wondered if someone could help me out. Me and my partner have two children who have been suffering with red itchy spots all over their body now since they were young. We visited the doctor two weeks ago due to my son having an enormous amount of these spots on his body (i lost count at 55). I was given various creams and medicines and told to re-visit one of the skin specialist a week later. I did this and was told they were flea bites, we were told to keep the kids away from their nans house (who has 3 cats) for 4 weeks. One week on and the bites are still appearing!!(however i was told this is normal). Two days ago my son said he noticed a small insect in his room on a piece of white paper that jumped 3-4 times before disapearing. This evening he came rushing into our room with one of these insects on his arm, i removed it and it immediately jumped off my hand - could this be fleas? We dont have any animals and only moved into our home 18 months ago - help!!! Just to point out one of our carpets (which was laid in our son's room) was given to us by my mom (who owns 3 cats). The carpet itself was bought brand new and stored (rolled up in plastic) at the edge of her stairway for 6 months before it was given to us and laid in our sons room 18 months ago. Can flea's live that long and breed with no animals present in our household? My son will be nine years old in january and he has been having these re-accuring bites now since he was two years old - i doubt that every single house we have lived in has had a flea problem before we moved in. The house we moved in to had no carpets down when we moved in and was cleaned and decorated. The house itself is privately owned by a housing association who have very strict policies on pets (you have to get written consent if you want to own a cat/dog). Furthermore we were asked prior to moving in if we had any pets, on this basis i would presume they knew the previous occupier and if she owned any pets would have taken all appropriate action to ensure we (with 2 children) are moving into a clean house.
Do you give your pets your last name, as well as 1st & middle or does it simply have a nickname? I know when people take their pets to the vet, they label the pet's medicine with nickname & the family's last name. EX: I had a cat, named Tharen, which can be used as a unisex name (It was a girl, but I named her after this guy I had a crush on *blushes*). & when she got her flea medicine, the label said "Tharen Grandpre", since my last name is Grandpre. Another time, my friend's coworker had a neighbor who had a dog, named Speckles, & his flea medicine said "Speckles Price". He was a dalmation.

Can anyone in Hawaii Foster a dog? I recently moved into military housing. I have a 3 yo male pit/lab mix. Due to military restrictions, we are unable to keep our family pet. Can anyone provide a loving foster home, or even interested in welcoming him into your home permenantly? He is a loyal companion, especially during deployments. He is neutered and up to date on all vaccinations and preventative medicines...(heartworm, flea and tick, etc). Can anyone help...PLEASE! I refuse to take him to the Humane Society for fear of someone adopting him to make him a fighter. I called to ask what their screening policies were to prevent this from happening....and they hung up on me! I have also looked into Animal Rescue Shelters and the Hawaii Pit Bull Alliance....
Frontline Plus + Cat+ Allergic Reaction = ??? well, my 11 month year old cat has fleas. My sister bought Frontline Plus online but it came with this weird tube thing and you could tell it was really Frontline for Dogs. Stupidly, we used it on our cat and she got all itchy and started pulling her fur out, so we washed it off. She's okay now. So, now she still has fleas and now she has to sleep in the garage and she barley gets any attention now. The local pet hospital refuses to give us any cat flea medicine without giving her a $50 check up. i already bought another 100% authentic Frontline Plus for Cats on ebay, because the pet hospital was giving me a lot of trouble. first they said: i could only purchase 2 (i came back in two weeks, because i had to get the money) second: they said i needed someone 18 years or older with me third: they said they cant give me any at all without a checkup. should i just take her to the checkup? i mean, what if she's fine but they lie to me and take all my money? HELP!
How safe is Advantge topical one month dose around children and other humans? The vet put Advantage flea/tick medicine on my kitten today. It's the kind that lasts for one month. She said to keep the kitten away from our daughter for a full 24 hours but then she is supposedly safe to be around her again. If the med lasts a full month, why is it safe after a day? And how safe is it really? What if my daughter pets her in the spot and then forgets to wash and eats something. Or in a more round about way what if the cat lays on her blanket and then my daughter touches that and the eats something or touches her nose, eyes, etc ... Do we need to be conscious not to touch that spot at all? They applied it to a rather large area at her neck/back and she's just a small kitty so we would have little place left to pet. And what about all the stuff she will unavoidably touch like covers, etc? Do you use this product? What special precautions do you take? How much thought do you give to it? Especially if you have young children. Thank you.
Question about Sims 2: Pets for DS? So yesterday I got Sims 2 Pets for Nintendo DS. I was doing pretty well until a client came and their dog had fleas. What medicine or whatever to you buy or what do you do, to cure the dog from fleas? Thanks But where do you buy the washing machine?

They have been scratching for 2 months and the vet said they had allergies. On Sunday I discovered my dog has a tapeworm that you can only get from fleas. Has anyone ever tried vi-pro plus on a dog with distemper if so what was result? Vi-Pro Plus Natural and Effective Help for Canine Distemper and Viral Infections Use Vi-Pro Plus for Pets: As an oral homeopathic vaccine to immunize your dog against Canine Distemper and other viral infections To protect against Distemper infection during a known outbreak To treat active Canine Distemper under veterinarian supervision See Below To Purchase This Product Treatment | Testimonials | Ingredients | Dosage | Ask Us | FAQ's What is Canine Distemper and what are the symptoms? Canine distemper is a highly contagious, extremely serious viral disease which occurs in dogs and other wild canids (e.g.. foxes, wolves and coyotes), raccoons, skunks and ferrets. It is an airborne virus, which affects the respiratory, gastrointestinal, and central nervous system of the animal. Puppies between three and six months and elderly animals are particularly at risk. Symptoms grow increasingly severe as the disease progresses, they include: Conjunctivitis (a watery, pus-like eye discharge) and inflammation of the eye Fever Nasal discharge Pneumonia (Coughing and labored breathing)_ Lethargy Reduced appetite Vomiting Diarrhea Seizures Hyperesthesia (increased sensitivity to sensory stimuli, such as pain or touch) Muscle twitching Progressive deterioration of mental abilities and motor skills Complete or partial paralysis What is the conventional treatment? There is no doubt that Canine Distemper is a serious illness. According to conventional veterinarian treatment, about 50% of dogs that contract it will die. Those that survive will often be left with debilitating conditions like permanent digestive problems, neurological problems, seizure disorders, deformities of the paw pads, etc. According to conventional veterinarian science, Distemper 'cannot be cured' and treatment is supportive only. Vaccination programs against Canine Distemper have made this viral illness less common in recent times. However, holistic vets point out that there are serious concerns about the wisdom of routine vaccination and its long term effect on the health of pets. What are the alternatives? Homeopathic vets have managed to treat Canine Distemper far more successfully than their allopathic counterparts. Using Distemperinum in homeopathic potency, both immunization of dogs as well as recovery rates in infected animals has proved to be highly successful. There is a wealth of evidence that this is the case and one can only wonder why allopathic vets are not making use of and being trained in the use of homeopathic medicine for their patients. Dr Horace B.F. Jervis, a veterinarian who pioneered the use of Distemperinum published a monograph in 1929 called 'Treatment of Canine Distemper with the Potentized Virus' Dr Jervis reports his frustration over many failed attempts at treating Canine Distemper during years of conventional treatment in a veterinarian clinic. This lead him to turn away from conventional veterinarian science and to begin treating his patients using the principles of homeopathic medicine. After developing a homeopathic treatment for Distemper, Dr Jervis writes: "I became intensely interested in the subject and bent all my energies to the study of it. My results were, and are, so much beyond my expectations that I am sorry not to be able to interest more veterinarians to take it up and give it a trial. Anyone doing so, I venture to say, will never go back to the old school again...Since commencing the use of this product the death rate in my distemper ward has been very materially decreased, and I have really for the first time in my years of practice felt a sort of load being lifted from my shoulders." Similarly, Dr Dorothy Shepherd, in her book, "Homeopathy in Epidemic Diseases" notes: "Here again homeopathy offers the best solution. Believe me, it has been shown again and again that our medicines given intelligently and according to our law, do not only cure infectious diseases speedily and easily without the development of any complications, but they also prevent these same diseases. ....I therefore have no hesitation in stating that from my own experience and observation, the homeopathic preventives are much safer in use, and absolutely certain in their effects. Even should the infectious, disease develop, it will be in a much milder form" In the words of Dr Richard Pitcairn, D.V.M., Ph.D, and founder of the Animal Natural Health Center (ANHC): "Based on my clinical experience, I think I can safely say that protection with nosodes is as reliable as with vaccinations and with the added advantage of few unwelcome side effects." What is Vi-Pro Plus? Vi-Pro Plus combines a Distemperinum nosode in homeopathic dose with homeopathic Bryonia and an herbal preparation of Echinacea, providing powerful protection against Distemper as well as many other viral illnesses. Used preventatively to immunize your dog, or curatively under the treatment of a homeopathic vet, Vi-Pro Plus can mean the difference between life and death. 50ml See Below To Purchase This Product What are the ingredients of Vi-Pro Plus? PetAlive Vi-Pro Plus contains the following 100% herbal and homeopathic ingredients: Distemperinum C30 is a homeopathic nosode used both prophylactically (preventatively) and curatively in the treatment of Canine Distemper. Homeopathic nosodes are similar to vaccines in that they help to build protection and resistance against specific diseases. They differ to conventional vaccines in that they are usually manufactured from the products of diseases rather than from a culture of the disease agent or virus itself (as in many conventional vaccines.) Research by Dr Horace B. F. Jervis, a veterinarian that pioneered the use of Distemperinum, has demonstrated the high rate of success in the treatment and prevention of Canine Distemper using this homeopathic 'vaccine'. This is in contrast to conventional veterinarian science, which states that more than 50% of dogs who contract this virus will die and the remainder will be very severely compromised for the rest of their lives. Bryonia C6 is a proven homeopathic remedy which is very effective for the treatment of coughs and dry mucus membranes, as well as the clearing of mucus from the chest. Echinacea purpurea is one of the top selling herbs for the treatment of colds, flu and other viral infections. Clinical trials have proved its effectiveness in a variety of settings. Studies have shown that Echinacea works by preventing the formation of hyaluronidase - an enzyme that is known to break the cell barriers between healthy tissue and pathogenic organisms like viruses. This immune boosting herb has also been successfully used to restore immune functioning in patients who have undergone chemotherapy. Lactose (inactive ingredient) (PetAlive Vi-Pro Plus contains no gluten, artificial flavors, colors or preservatives) How has Vi-Pro helped others? "I am moved to write in and say that our family dog would probably not be with us today were it not for this remedy. When our usual vet diagnosed a very ill dog with Distemper things looked very serious and he thought so too. Under his supervision we used your remedy because others have worked very well and we have all been amazed at the quick recovery. Thank you from the bottom of our hearts." - Sandy. "Luckily our vet agrees with us about yearly vaccination unlike the previous one who wanted to vaccinate every year. Our puppy is taking your Vi-Pro for Distemper to protect her against distemper and other viruses and we are confident that it will be as successful as your other products have been, including your EasyTravel for car sickness!" - Graham "This product is fantastic - from ease of administration to effectiveness it gets 10/10 from me. I have used all your oral vaccination products for my dogs with great confidence and they remain healthy and disease free." - Brent. "Here's my story. I bought a dog from a breeder in kentucky I am in Louisiana. I could not drive to meet [him] , so I decided to have him sent via airplane... The next day he started to have a seizure it was very unnerving. The Vet did some blood work and other test. He determined that our brand new dog that we instantly fell in love with had distemper and would most likely die or not be normal for the rest of his life if we were lucky. We don't have alot of money and they were recomending very expensive treatments. We being the good loving people we are turned to God in this circumstance. We searched for answers online, and by praying nonstop. Finally my mom who is a diehard holistic medicine believer turn us on to the thought of a natural cure. So, I searched and it did not take long. I found this site and was skeptical, because I am by nature. Well needless to say It came in the mail very fast. Then we begain treating him. Nothing happened at first, same old seizures 5 to ten times a day. Then one day he we woke up to him being more active... Now I am happy and blessed to say we have a wonderful healthy almost 1 year old puppy. He has made a full recovery... He brings much happiness to our home, and I truly feel this medicine had a part in that. God bless Native Remedies." - Richard M, LA "My dog was diagnosed with distemper. She became deathly ill! She wouldn't eat, or drink. Thinking I had done everything possible to save her, my last attempt was Vi-pro Plus. After just a few doses I saw the effect it made. She gradually got better and better. Without a doubt; Vi-pro plus saved her life. Thank you so much for saving my dogs life! I have give my cat a bath.... I really need to give my cat a flea bath. We are not even sure how they got fleas since they are inside cats. We have had both of them for many years and never a problem until this year. They are just covered. We put collars on them and use the stuff you put behind theirs necks but that does not seem to be helping much. The older cat is not a problem with the bath but the younger one is. I mean even to cut her nails or put the flea stuff on her, we have to wrap her in a towel. I was thinking of maybe getting some kind of medicine from the pet store that would calm her enough to give her a bath but I am not sure what to use. Any suggestions would help. Thanks!!
How to get rid of a tick problem? Please, I hope you can help me. When we got our pup about 6 months ago, we treted her with Frontline to kill her fleas & ticks. It was time to give the treatment once again but we coulnt find this specific medicine in any pet store so we got one by the brand Hertz. Now she does'nt have a single flea, but we recently discovered she has been getting more and more ticks, actually, it's been in these last 3 days. The more we get rid off, the more they appear. We have given her baths with a medicated soap (it says it kills ticks & fleas) to see if the problem goes away, but no luck... Is there any other way we can get rid of this pest?
spreadable? ok so we have an indoor cat and dog and we treated them with flea medicine and all their feas are gone. but if we take them around pets that have them or outside can they get fleas again. by the way the flea med we used was frontline.
Is the Hartz brand as good as Frontline for fleas and ticks? I was at the Pharmacy and saw they have a 3 month supply of Hartz for only 7 bucks that is a topical medicine, similar to how Frontline is administered. Is Frontline the best? What is the active ingredient besides the brandname? Everyone says Frontline is the best but I went to a vet when I brought my first dog that had a flea collar on and they suggested a pill, which I forgot the name of. So are there alternatives to Frontline in pill form? And I ask again, Does garlic really keep ticks and fleas off of pets? I didnt hear quite a resounding Yes in my last question so am readdressing this question to see if it is a myth or truth. Thanks for everyones input in advance.
my cat was poisioned what should i do? someone put hartz flea one spot flea medicine on my cat last night, hes starting to have allergic reactions, im upset because im so antihartz. it was my mom i think and she didnt know how dangerous hartz actually is. the website is http//:www.hartzvictims.org well i washed him this morning and got most of the crap off him. i want to wash him again, but that was way to difficult. i heard that hartz well pay vet bills, if your pet has allergic reaction to there product and needs vet treatment. i want to call them and be like "yo, my mom puts this on my cat and i want you to pay the vet bill so it can properly be taken off my cat before he starts having seizures and the vet bill will go up) my cats acting normal, besides the hair falling out in clumps, but this is day number 2. and syptoms can creep up on you until its to late what should i do? http://www.hartzvictims.org
Pets & Bugs???? About a week ago we noticed the dog itching a lot and upon further inspection found little bugs under her fur. I thought that they might be fleas and bought some topical medicine (Frontline) from the vet and applied to the dog as well as our two cats. Well, after researching fleas, these do not seem to be consistent with the description; and we are now finding these bugs everywhere. They are tiny black/brown beetle like bugs. They appear to have wings, though I have never seen one fly. Any ideas on what they might be?
Obssesive licking. make it stop!!? my cat has a obssesve licking. We give her flea medicine and she is a long hariied cat. But she licks herself till shes soaked. She has no skin infection. I think my kittens have tapeworms. Help? I got two kittens about 2 weeks ago. I took them to the vet as soon as they turned 8 weeks old (05/23/08) and had their first shots and deworming done (I have not idea what was given). That was 4 days ago. I never did see any worms in the litter box like the vet said I might. But since having them dewormed I have noticed small slimy whitish worms stuck to their tails. I even saw one crawling out of the boy kittens hiney today. So my question is , Is this normal to have "live" worms crawling out of my kittens after being dewormed. Or is it most likely a tapeworm issue (they did have fleas really bad when I got them and I have been bathing them as often as I can to try and get it under control). And is the deworming medicine the vet gave going to take care of the tapeworm or will they need a different medicine. Thanks to any advice given. I am a new pet owner and don't have any idea what I am doing.
I ordered Advantage flea meds for my cat at petsuppliesnet.com, does anyone know if this is a legit co.? After 2 weeks of waiting, I finally got the meds in the mail and saw that they traveled from AUSTRALIA! I thought I was ordering from the U.S. Does anyone order from this company? Has anyone used the medicine they ordered from there, and has anyone's pet been harmed by anything ordered from this site? It worries me b/c of the international trip it took and the fact that the Advantage tubes look different from what I get at my vet office. I just wanted to save money. Ugghhh. Now I'm afraid to put this on my cat.
Kitten with worms? There is a stray kitten outside that I give food. Well I recently realized that this kitten has worms. I can't keep him, only because I have 3 cats and 1 dog and my husband doesn't want anymore pets. But he doesn't mind me feeding him. He tells me to get him some worm medicine, which I intend on doing but my only concern is, If he is an outdoor cat and is constantly around other stray cats, won't the worms eventually come back. I figure eventually I can convince my husband to let me keep Gizmo (that's what I call him) but in the mean time what should I do to keep the worms away. I know fleas are the cause of worms, but Giz is to young for the drops. What should I do. I live in Southern California.
Tick problem on dog... HELP!? Ok, well thanx everyone... I guess the only thing I can do for now is keep cheking her until we get her Frontline... I hope to have it here in the next few days... we've treated her with this ever since she gor here, it was his month we coul'dnt find it so we got the one taht was left (hartz) so she wouldn't be without protection... I guess it was'nt the best move, since she's gotten more and more in the last 3 days, so we won't get it anymore... Thank you all for your help. ^-^
My cat has developed small sores on parts of his body with no signs of fleas on any of my pets. Any ideas? He has little sores that at first I thought were flea bites. They were on his neck at first but have now spread to his stomach. Most of them are small and random but on a few spots there are several that are grouped together making for a large sore. He has been grooming himself a lot lately but since he would not be able to reach the spots on his neck, I do not believe that is what is causing them. Also, there are no signs of fleas on him, my other pets, or in the house. I'm curious as to whether this might be something that a topical medicine could fix or if I should just take him to the vet.
I put some Heart flea medication on my two cats, and I was wondering...? When will it be okay to pet or pick them up? My niece is bad about leaving them alone. I applied the medicine last night around 8 or 9 pm. Okay, listen. Only Hartz will work on my pets. I've tried frontline and it doesn't do anything. You're not answering my point. When can I pick them up? I'm not asking for a lecture of what to use on my pets. I have them locked up in my laundry room and I just want to know when I can let them out.
My 1 year old cat is drooling. Could this be from the frontline I put on her a few weeks ago? I used frontline for the first time on my 1yr old cat a few weeks ago. She did have some salivation issues after I put it on her which the box said could happen. But now she's drooling (clear) & she never has before. I've been gone off & on for 2wks for work & I first noticed the drooling last week when I was home for a few days. I was petting her & I saw her drooling. I chaulked it up to her being happy I was home. Then this morning I felt the pillow she sleps on and it was really wet in one spot. After playing with her for a bit she went to lay down. All of a sudden I heard her licking herself & looked over & there was massive drool. I had to use a paper towel to clean it up. Her teeth & gums look fine. She's eating & drinking & no vomiting. I called the vet & they said to give her a bath to get the flea medicine off her & just watch her for a few days to see if its gone. I'm a worried mom and want to know if anyone knows of frontline causing this problem or if she's just content. In addition there is nothing she could have gotten into chemically. We've lived here in my apartment for over a year. I can't find anything wrong with her ears. She's not really being out of character. She ate today and drank some water. Her coat is fine because I gave her a bath but there was nothing funny about it before. Though she may be a little warm. Everything is pretty much the same. It sems the drooling is only when I'm petting her or when she's napping. She is purring and that's a good sign right? Maybe she has a little cold?
Question for veterinarians? I recently relocated from WI to CA. Our new vet is always suggesting vaccines and medicines that the vet in WI didn't bother to discuss with us. I don't know if different things are important in different areas, i.e. the fleas are a lot worse out here, so that could explain him pushing the expensive flea meds on us. But, the whole thing is confusing me. I want to be the best pet parent I can be. Was the WI vet a bad vet or is the CA vet raking us over the coals?
i have a seven week old boy kitten he will use the litter box sometimes but not others i dnt know wat to do? he is a seven week old boy kitten there are no other pets in the house just him. we got him out of the paper frm a lady this lady had so many cats and kittens and her house stunk of cat pee and everything. we got him about two weeks ago the first week i had no problems with him but i found some fleas on him i think we treated them. then he had a cold i took him to the vet and they gave him medicine, once he was on the medicine he would pee and pop on the couch and my bed on the rugs anywhere, but he only did it at night and we were always home and other times he would use his liter box. i stopped giving him themedicine because i thought that was making him do it but he was still doing it and it is only when we are here and its usually always in front of us, unless it is in our bed then we are asleep can anyone help us out and let me know what i should do so we dont have to get rid of him adn we can keep him i would appreciate it thanks
My flea bitten varmint:]? I have a Pomeranian and he's about 8 years old. He has a real bad allergic reaction to fleas. We've tried the cone, the liquid medicine, flea dip, the pills, we've even bombed our house a few times with bug killer. Nothing seems to work. And he is starting to really chew him self up. He has no hair on his rear end and his skin is always bright, bright red. I don't know if there are any vets who use Yahoo! Answers, but if you had the same problem with your pet(s) and you have resolved it, please let me know. Thanks.

Having issues with possibly sick Cat...Please Help!? Okay, Here's the skinny: I recently took my cat to an emergency Vet because he has been acting strangely. First we found out he has fleas, and he's been over grooming himself to try and get rid of them. We Used advantage, and he seemed fine. But then we found out he's been lying in his litterbox all day, and sleeping in it last night. The vet told me there was no Blockage, but he may have a urinary tract infection. They gave him some medicine: Amoxil and Metacam (Aliquot). when I got him home, he actually stayed in his pet carrier (a first...) and really hasn't moved from it since (about 4 hours). He hasn't gotten up to get any water or food, and hasn't tried to use the bathroom. He's just sitting there and I'm really worried about him. Does anyone know if this is an effect of the medicine or is it something else? Is he a bit dazed form the antibiotics or is he scared? Should I urge him to leave the box? Should I force him to walk around? Please help, I'm really freaked about this.
Bald spot from Frontline? My cat is 7 and has been on Frontline for about 4 years. We discontinue it in the winter. We occasionally get minor fleas and she is the first one I notice the fleas on.Other than the bad infestation we got one time, I can tell when fleas are on her because their waste makes her fur feel gross and her ears get red. She is all white and has short but super duper thick fur. She lives indoors 100% of the time. I have 2 dogs on Frontline as well, also discontinued in the winter. I'm sure the fleas were on the pets before I realized and the frontline stopped an infestation..it's a great product. The question here is, has anybody else had this happen and can the product be used in the future? I applied the medicine about 2 wks ago, and the spot is completely bald and she doesn't want me to touch it, but it isn't red, crusty, or anything...just bald
Anti-itch medication or natural treatment for cats? My sweet kitty Nellie got fleas from sitting near the door, where there's a crack under it. (She's an indoor kitty.) We took care of the fleas themselves, we gave her a collar, we sprayed her and used anti-flea stuff on the carpet, etc., but it's been a couple of weeks and she has a sore spot on her back from itching. It feels (under her fur) like a scab, and when we pet her on a certain spot, she tenses up, and if we do it too hard, she meows and even bites a little. Is there any good natural remedy or over-the-counter medicine we can put on her itchy spot? Thanks! We did use Advantage on her as well. There haven't been any more fleas, she just has an ouchy spot where she WAS scratching when she had them.
Help! if you know anything about dogs? i was just petting my little dog harley, and when i rubed my hand down his back there was a little drop of blood on my finger and then i checked his back and it looked like a really big bite(like a little hole but bigger than a flea bite) and then i found another one near the area i found the other spot on his back,i know its not a flea bite its to big could it be a tick bite? also i just put his flea and tick medicine on him, hopefully that will help, but if you think you know what this bite or whatever it is could be please respond thank you all in advance.
Is Advantage for kittens safe to use around children? Thank you.
